We provide all options of birth control methods and family planning services and can help you reach an informed decision regarding the best method for you. How long does it take?
If you are a new patient coming for your 1st Family Planning appointment, please allow approximately 1 to 2 hour(s) for this appointment.
Cost: Fees are based on income using a sliding fee scale. No one will be denied services due to inability to pay. Most insurances are accepted.
How to participate: Call 240-313-3296 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
What to bring: Please bring identification, insurance card, and/or proof of income.
What to expect:
- Take a number located on the center beam by the chairs in the waiting room (please ask if you are unsure)
- Registration staff will call your number and guide you through the process.
- A nurse will call you by number and take you to a private room. During this time, you may discuss any concerns with the nurse and they will answer any questions you may have.
- A nurse will ask you for a urine specimen and discuss pregnancy and STI testing options.
- The Clinician will review your medical record with you and offer an examination.
- Pap tests and breast exams are not necessary for those under the age of 21, therefore if you are not having a problem, your exam and testing may be done with your clothes on.

For Parents
Parents and other adults CAN do something to reduce the risk of teen-age children becoming pregnant, and help teens delay becoming sexually active.
Listed below are ten tips compiled by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
- Be clear about your own sexual values and attitudes.
- Talk with your children early and often about sex, and be specific.
- Supervise and monitor your children and adolescents.
- Know your children’s friends and their families.
- Discourage early, frequent, and steady dating.
- Take a strong stand against your daughter dating a boy significantly older than she is. And don’t allow your son to develop an intense relationship with a girl much younger than he is.
- Help your teenagers to have options for the future that are more attractive than early pregnancy and parenthood.
- Let your kids know that you value education highly.
- Know what your kids are watching, reading, and listening to.
- These first nine tips for helping your children avoid teen pregnancy work best when they occur as part of strong, close relationships with your children that are built from an early age.
